Welcome To our Class Blog!

Hello Families!

I am excited to share updates and activities from our classroom with you. Family involvement is crucial for student success, and I hope this blog will help you stay connected and engaged with what we are learning in the classroom.

Weekly Highlights

This week, we read the book, The Mitten, by Jan Brett. We created an animal sequence chain and designed our own mittens. In our writing workshop, we wrote about another animal that we would add to the mitten and why. In phonics, we played a game called 'word detective,' where students had to unscramble CVC words and match them to the correct picture.

Home Activities:

*Family story time: Choose a story to read together as a family. Ask your child questions about the story and talk to your child about his/her favorite parts.

*CVC word hunt: Write CVC words on note cards and put them around the house. As your child finds the cards, have them decode and read you the words.

*Puppet show: Use stuffed animals to act out a story.

*Writing: Create your own sentence or story and draw a picture to match.

*Alphabet games:

1. I spy- I spy something that begins with the letter ___ or I spy something that begins with the ___ sound.

2. ABC matching game or ABC go fish

Thank you for being such an important part of our literacy journey. Stay tuned for more uodates and literacy fun!
